What we collect directly

PropRef has no sign-up, no accounts, and no forms that collect personal information. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number to use the site. Standard web server logs (the kind any hosting provider keeps automatically: IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) may be retained briefly for security and performance troubleshooting, not for building a profile of you.

Cookies & advertising (Google AdSense)

Once advertising is enabled, PropRef will use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its advertising partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, in order to show ads that are more relevant to you.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info. Analytics

PropRef uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage: which pages are visited, for how long, and general device, browser and location category (city or state level, not your street address). Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address for this purpose; we use the reports to decide which state pages and resources are most useful. We do not combine this data with any personal information, because we don't collect any. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

PropRef exists to link out to official government websites and documents. Those sites have their own privacy policies and cookie practices, entirely independent of ours, we don't control, and aren't responsible for, what a government portal does with your data once you click through. Children's privacy

PropRef is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so may affect how ads are personalized but won't affect your ability to use PropRef's core content. See the opt-out links above for advertising-specific controls.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, for example, when advertising actually goes live. The version here at the time you read it is the one that applies.
